10th of dec and yesterdays road trip to chamonix went pretty well even though due to Cham not being open we went to Verbier.
the day went like this.
fri night stopped at mad person number ones (MP1) house went bed at 10pm ish got no sleep as thats to early to be in bed even though we'd be starting at 3am
3am came and un like me i was awake though this could be due to the fact that i'm normally up by that time
3.30 leave to pick MP 2&3 them we would meet MP4 the trip planner at the airport.
got to airport checked in took off then landed by 10am
bags grabbed and past customs even had rental car sorted by just aftr 11am but the hold up was that noware was open as the 9th was only the predicted opening day.
the nearist open resort was Verbier and by 12.45 we were pulling into the carpark at Verbiers gondola 2nd station. all the talk of no snow had gone to as there was over a foot of fresh fluffy pow on a camper in the carpark.
boards reasembled and passes bought by 1.30 and by 1.40 we were all in a gondola heading up the side of a snow covered mountain.
we went to the highist 4 man chair they had running and started pulling laps in the fluffy stuff due to the limited time. flat light was the main problem added to my lack of fitness at nigh on 3000m for the first time since last winter.
2 hours went in notime at all and come 4pm we'd all met up again and were gondolering down.
rush rush rush to get 5 boards stripped and split between 3 board bags took a while but we managed it . struggled at first getting out of Verbier the once on the road there was a few worries about time scales for missing the flight.
got there 20 mins to spare for checking in and took of on time at 8pm ish
landded and out past customs by 10pm. car was picked up and bye had been said to MP5 by 10.45.
mid night saw MP 2&3 dropped off then back to pick my van up and split my stuff from MP1's stuf.
i was home by 1 am a bit nackered but happy that me and some new friends had been shreding waist deep pow UK road trip style
thanks to all involved for a great day
